I look forward to the “Fall Back” part of Daylight Savings Time.

This “Spring Forward” thing is for the birds though.

As soon as I saw the first reminder show up in my email and newsfeed – plus the reminder from my parents by phone this afternoon – I groaned.

Sure, I will be more than happy to leave school when there is still daylight left, but if truth be told, I kind of like my sleep more.

I kind of wish I had noticed that this short night would be happening the night before  our scheduled “creative non-drowning kayaking class” taking place tomorrow. (We’ll be practicing rolling kayaks.)

(I’m already jazzed up about the short night so don’t get me started about my worry that my bathing suit won’t fit tomorrow…if it makes you feel better, this might be the motivation I need to get my butt to the gym on Monday morning…)

So, I guess it is time to quit whining and just figure that we’ll all be in bed earlier than normal tonight to make up for that time vacuum that will happen around 2 AM thanks to Daylight Savings Time.

  1. Amazing how one hour can make all the difference in the world. I wish the time would change on a Saturday, instead of a Sunday so we would have an extra night to adjust before going back work.
    Enjoy kayaking- sounds like fun!

    • That would make sense. But maybe we could just adjust in our own lives on Saturday and Sunday would be easy. :)
Kayaking should be fun. As soon as I get past the bathing suit thing. (That will only take a couple minutes.)

  2. I’m with you on losing an hour tonight, but I’m not as vehement as most of my now home state of Indiana where many residents still haven’t forgiven the past governor for putting us on daylight savings time in the first place. The kayaking sounds awesome. We did some open kayaking when we were at the beach–no rolling required.

  3. I think I am already tired! early night for me! I really never thought of this as the shortest night of the year…

    • We had a wonderful time. I slept in a bit, too. The young one was complaining about his stomach again so I stayed home with him while Jason went to church. He seemed to be feeling better so we did go to our kayaking class. Somehow the kid felt better for that – but has since thrown up 6 times. Yuck.
