What I Have Learned: #slice2012

I wasn’t sure I would make it through all 31 days of March to finish out the Slice of Life Challenge.

I wasn’t sure I would find something to write every day.

I wasn’t sure that I would be able to post by the end of each day.

I wasn’t sure that life wouldn’t interrupt.

I shouldn’t have worried.

The more I wrote, the more I noticed in life.

The more I noticed in life, the more I realized that everything was up for grabs.

I saw posts everywhere.

I worked at writing them in my head.

I loved the comments, the fact that people were reading what I wrote and responding to what I had written.

I love the fact that my mom called me yesterday to find out how to read the ones she’d missed.

What I have been thinking about is how to recreate this experience for my students. I want them to be empowered to see their world and share their perspective and to see how others respond to what they have to share.

Something tells me that this experience will be a game-changer.

Thank you, Ruth and Stacey, for offering this challenge. Thank you also to all my friends (and family) who have been commenting. The encouragement from all has been worth more than you can know.

  1. Cindy – I loved how you succinctly you made your points. You are so right – I absolutely notice more because of this challenge, and find inspiration in the most unlikely of places. I am so pleased I did the challenge, and more importantly finished. Congratulations to you as well! I have really enjoyed following your posts.

  2. Yes! I agree with all of this. Even with my “bloggy issues”, I knew I was in it for the long haul. We need to think of a hashtag to use on days other than the Slice days so we can continue to follow each other’s posts!

  3. I love how you want to take something you love and bring it to your students! Beautiful. (I’ve been thinking about the same thing.) Just wanted to stop by and say thanks so much for all of your encouraging comments during this challenge. You rock, and I hope we’ll keep slicing together for the rest of the year!

    • I will definitely continue slicing through the rest of the year. It’s been really enjoyable. Thank you for stopping by here and leaving your comments! Incredible reinforcement. :)
